Palestinian Dubai-based brand, Reemami, just showcased their first major fashion show at Milan Fashion Week with ‘Emerging Talents Milan.’ The designer behind the brand, Reema Al Banna, is known for her experimentation with bold prints and vibrant colours, and her MFW debut for her spring/summer 2022 line left no exception.

The designer’s journey in the world of fashion and design started when she pursued a degree at ESMOD, and later started her eponymous label. Her latest collection was heavily inspired by her identity and culture, and what it means to be a third culture child. The collection is also an ode to her Palestinian origins, as she employed “Palestinian Women refugees to contribute to her collection with patchwork that is done by them and unused, creating a new life and telling their stories through a combination of the patchwork and her own designs, the collection aims to raise awareness about her own culture and identity as well as the artistic work of the refugees.

Al Banna also re-interprets traditional Palestinian embroidery in her collection by modernising it, and finds inspiration from the world of equestrianism and horse riding.

The 12 looks that were showcased at Milan fashion week are part of the first drop of Reema’s ‘Pal’ collection, and it seems as though there’s a lot more in store for the Palestinian designer, so watch this space.
