Phoebe Philo’s exit from Celine sent us all shockwaves, but when Hedi Slimane took on the relms as the new creative director and unpredictably removed the accent from the name, his vision for the brand delightedly impressed us. It’s no secret that Slimane had large shoes to fill, but with the release of new handbags, a men’s collection and an exclusive unisex fragrance line, Hedi Slimane has been ticking all of our boxes. His latest releases just arrived at their flagship store at the Dubai Mall and our digital editor has got all the inside scoop that you need to know about.

Heidi Slimane’s architecture-d tailoring is possibly what he’s known best for, but the real delight is all in the miniscule details; 24-karat gold detailing on suits and cardigans are made with the same precision and care as his new jewelry line.

Simplicity is the designer’s forte, and Slimane proves time and time again that excessiveness and exaggeration are not luxury’s best friends – in fact, they’re the enemy. His new handbag, seductively named Tabou, perfectly encapsulates the collision of practicality and luxury.

Slimane also brought back the intertwined ‘C’ motif, which a spokesperson for the brand tells us was inspired by the chains that wrap around the Arc de Triomphe.

Celine’s latest fragrances are also available at the flagship store at the Dubai Mall, and cannot be found at other retailers. The range of fragrances span from day to night-time scents, and have an array of different notes and ingredients. From oak moss to patchouli and white orris butter, there’s a fragrance almost tailor-made for everyone and anyone at Celine. Who knew a Celine fragrance would become as exclusive and desirable as a Birkin?
