The 28th of August marks the seventh annual Emirati Women’s Day celebration after it was founded by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi in 2015. As such, it is right around the corner, reminding us of the importance of women’s empowerment. PEARLA DUBAI

Founded by two sisters, Hessa and Fatma Ali Aljoker first started by creating conceptual ready-to-wear garments, specialising in giving modest-wear a modern and luxury twist. The brand, which is based in Dubai, is largely influenced by art and storytelling. Their collections range from vibrant and colourful to decadent night-time ready, and are all made with the finest materials.

Coven

Coven is a femcare brand that specialises in providing access to feminine hygiene products with its wall-mounted dispensers designed for women’s washrooms. The brand aims to revolutionise femcare with its dispensers by breaking down the stigmas, and social mores surrounding these products. With its vibrantly coloured dispensers and bold product design, Coven reminds us that our cycles aren’t “embarrassing” or something to hide–it’s taking care of yourself in the most fashionable way possible. This game-changing brand is the brainchild of Alyazi Saeed, who launched Coven this month, August 2022, so keep an eye out for it as it starts popping up in washrooms everywhere.

Arqa Jewellery

Aisha Rashid is an Emirati jewellery designer who founded her high jewellery company, ARQA Jewellery, in 2019. Rashid is known for rendering precious metals and gemstones into forms inspired by architecture and geometry. As such, many of her collections feature octagonally shaped earrings and necklaces that bounce light off of their corners. The sturdy shapes paired with the fluttering nature of the refracting light perfectly balance delicateness with strength in each item of ARQA jewellery.

YNM Dubai

YNM Dubai is a ready-to-wear fashion brand launched by sisters Yasmin Al-Mulla and Nesreen in 2014. This fashion brand is deeply connected to Emirati culture, with modest fashion at the crux of the label. The sisters skillfully create traditional feminine clothing with design techniques like beadwork, appliques, and soft textiles.

Dr. Manal Al Mansoori Polyclinic

 

Dr Manal Al Mansoori is a skilled practitioner in cosmetic medicine and the founder of her namesake clinic based in Dubai. Her services include a range of beauty-enhancing treatments such as botox, skin boosters, peels, fillers and hydrafacials that make her clients feel more confident and comfortable in their skin. “There’s one thing that motivates me above all else,” Dr Manal Al Mansoori shared with Grazia, “seeing how much my clients benefit from my treatments. It makes me feel rewarded and more motivated to keep up the work.”

Illi Studio

Illi Studio is the brainchild of Rawdha Thani, an Emirati female creative director and business woman. Illi Studio is a refreshingly feminine, cheeky and spirited brand, that offers patterned abayas with playful motifs like crescent moons, stars and hearts. Their designs are fun and colourful and invite every woman to bring out her inner child. The brand has also become known for its adorable “Love Tote” bags that come in different colours and are as light as a feather.
