Paris Fashion Week always offers an array of swoon-worthy garments to lust over. But yesterday, Lebanese designer Elie Saab lit up fashion week with unique designs filled with intricate embellishment and grand silhouettes.

Featuring lace sundresses, playful sets, A-line silhouette and Ready-to-Wear tailoring, Saab’s spring 2022 collection has ‘70s trends written all over it. Saab is never not going to be known for his show-stopping evening dresses, but this time he’s putting more than his signature intricate detailing into his Ready-to-Wear line.

Beyond his new logo, Saab distinguished his latest collection from his recent Ready-to-Wear solely based on his efforts in approaching it in extreme casualness. Like most of the designers this season, Saad joined the monogram bandwagon, along with the monochromatic dressing trend. For years, monochrome was based solely on wearing a single colour, preferably black or white, but this season monochrome is in no way limited to neutral tones. As we’ve seen designers opting for striking monochrome looking’s from pastel green to bold red and royal blue – but let’s face it when it comes to making a dramatic statement with little-to-no effort, monochromatic dressing is your answer.

This season, Elie Saab was looking to communicate an air of “soft power”, thinking about the ways femineity translates from work to home and everything in between. There was something genuinely nostalgic about the looks, as timeless prints and delicate detailing’s look centre stage.
