Saudi Arabia has confirmed the holiday dates for Eid Al Fitr, which will mark the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Plan out your outfits and finalise those staycation and travel plans as public and private sector employees in the Kingdom are set to get a 6-day break in April.

6-Day Holiday Announced For Eid Al-Fitr in Saudi Arabia

On Saturday, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced that most employees would get four days off from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29, 1445) to April 11.

And as the weekend falls on Friday and Saturday in the Kingdom, Saudi residents will enjoy six consecutive days off and return to work on Sunday, April 14.

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan that started on March 11. During the period, Muslims worldwide fast from dawn till dusk, and immerse themselves in spiritual practices.

As per the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan falls on the ninth month, consisting of 354 or 355 days a year. Accordingly, Ramadan could be either 29 or 30 days, depending on the moon sighting. Eid Al Fitr is celebrated on the first of Shawwal, the month that comes after Ramadan.

When Is Eid Al Fitr In The UAE?

In neighbouring UAE, current predictions from astronomers based in the Emirates estimate that the first day of Eid Al Fitr is most likely going to be Wednesday, April 10. UAE residents could enjoy up to nine days off to celebrate the Islamic festival.

As per the list of holidays announced by the UAE government earlier for public and private sectors, residents will get a break from Ramadan 29 till Shawwal 3 to celebrate Eid Al Fitr.
