Dion Lee is a fixture on the New York Fashion Week circuit. The Australian designer has become synonymous with his heavy tailoring, industrial embellishment, micro hemlines, cut-outs and corsets. And this raw, edgy glamour is something that’s always extended into beauty on the runway.

For yesterday’s Fall/Winter 2023 presentation, Lee worked with both skincare brand Sunday Riley and makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench to create a fresh, natural skin finish with subtle alien-adjacent detailing.

As for skin prep, each model was treated to a deep cleanse with Ceramic Slip Cleanser, before the Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment was pressed in as a leave-on treatment to plump, brighten and clarify. Next, the Auto Correct Eye Cream was applied to lift and brighten the eye contour, before a dime-sized amount of C.E.O. Afterglow Brightening Vitamin C Gel Cream was massage into the skin, ensuring a plump, illuminated finish.

While Ffrench is yet to share a detailed breakdown, the finished look embodies her other-worldly signature style perfectly: a clean complexion, subtle glow, nude lips, and an oddly beautiful set of holographic scales dusting across the forehead.

Given Lee’s futuristic, almost Dystopian riff on fashion, it’s a detail that’s subtle but absolutely perfect; almost unnoticeable at a glance, but enough to catch the light.

Hair was simple, natural and glossed. Stylist Evanie Frausto let each model’s natural texture lead the way, adding just enough moisture and shine to give it a polished finish.

While the details were subtle, they were perfectly attuned to Lee’s provocative collection. Stay up to date with more breaking news from New York Fashion Week right here.
