If you know the difference between a cerulean and blue sweater, or if you’ve been inspired by Miranda Priestly’s attitude since the early 2000s we’ve got news: the release of the next iteration of the famous film The Devil Wears Prada is just around the corner.
As of May 1, The Devil Wear’s Prada 2 is officially taking over the big screen. The fierce, confident and classic crowd-pleaser is back in cinema. Ready to take the world by storm, perhaps in the Chanel boots.
The iconic pop culture film from 2006 featured Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt – who are set to return for the sequel – and it was a movie that inspired an entire generation to pursue fashion.
Now, it’s back, and we’re ready! Here at GRAZIA, we’ve got everything it is that you need to know about the movie’s debut in Dubai and Abu Dhabi – from cinema venues to early screenings and watch parties.
recaping the original

Before we begin, let’s take a moment to look back on the original movie. The Devil Wears Prada was released on November 9, 2006. The movie was adapted from the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger and directed by David Frankel. It is centered around Anne Hathaway’s character, aspiring journalist Andrea Sach’s. Andrea lands a job as assistant to the powerful, icy and intimidating Miranda Priestly played by our beloved Meryl Streep. Miranda Priestly is editor-in-chief at the iconic fashion magazine Runway and is infamous for her ruthlessness and perfectionism.
The movie follows Andrea struggling to adjust to the demands of the fashion industry and a job that “a million girls would kill for.” As she navigates her new role, she develops a complex perspective on Streep’s character. She grows to admire Miranda’s dedication but struggles with her high, often nonsensical demands.
However, Andrea eventually learns how to adapt to Miranda’s high standards, resulting in a dynamic of begrudging respect that is present from both sides. The consequence of this comes at the expense of Andrea’s personal life, as her relationships with her friends and boyfriend fall apart. In the end, Andrea chooses to leave Miranda’s influence and her old life behind, reflecting her personal growth and ambition.
Who will return?
Award winning actress Meryl Streep is set to return on the big screen as her iconic character Miranda Priestly. It is rumored that the actress does not partake in sequels but made an exception for this movie. So, you know we’re excited!
Additionally, Anne Hathaway is set to return as the movie’s main character Andrea Sachs. From what we can observe Hathaway’s character is present to help the print magazine sustain its relevance by adjusting to the digital world. We truly can’t wait to watch her return to Runway, strutting in with her new-found confidence as a seasoned professional.
Stanely Tucci reappears as Nigel Kipling, Runway‘s art director with a heart of gold. Nigel is one of the only characters that understands Miranda’s complex nature and treats Andrea with warmth. Emily Blunt also returns as Emily Charlton, who we prefer to call the Og Emily in Paris. Her character was formerly the assistant of Miranda Priestly and is now a high-powered executive at a luxury advertising firm.
A new addition to this all-star cast includes rising star Simone Ashley, best known for her role as love interest Kathani Sharma in Bridgerton. Her character steps into Andrea’s and Emily’s old shoes as Miranda Priestly’s current assistant.
