Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated latest film, Dune, was mostly set in Wadi Rum, Jordan, and cost over 160 million US dollars to produce. The film is an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi novel, Dune, and reviews show that the film has done the novel justice. Several award-winning actors were casted for the film, including Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem. In a recent post on Instagram, it was revealed that the cast seemed to have enjoyed their time filming in Wadi Rum, and we’ve got the inside scoop of what they had to say about the country. If you haven’t yet visited the golden deserts of Wadi Rum, perhaps the Dune casts’ stamp of approval is enough to convince you to go.

Denis Villeneuve:

“Jordan has a very special vibe, it’s very impressive how every 25 miles you have a totally different landscape.”

Jason Momoa:

“Going to Jordan was a monumental moment in my life. I’ve never seen the desert like that I’m a rock climber, and I’ve never seen rocks like that.”

Javier Bardem:

“We are in Wadi Rum, the Jordanian desert, and every day I come here to work I’m always surprised by the beauty and the force of nature.”

Timothee Chalamet:

“It added a transformative quality, I think for everyone.”

Zendaya:

“The overall experience in Jordan has been incredible, everyday when I go on set I’m just like wow. Like this is where I get to work today! We’ve all been welcome with open arms.”

As of yesterday, the film is showing across the UAE.
