Grazia Goes Pink
Grazia goes pink for breast cancer awareness month

At one point in every girl’s life, it’s a guarantee that pink was her favourite colour. Whether she begged her mother for pink highlights or to paint her bedroom walls pink, it’s a colour that’s resonated with many of our childhoods. But the colour represents so much more than just a little girl’s fairytale world. Pink represents resilience for millions of women, it represents strength, and it represents bravery. Pink is the colour that every survivor of breast cancer resonates with, and unfortunately also with those who lost their lives to the life-threatening disease. This is why this month, we’re turning our socials pink in honour of those who have battled with the disease, whether they are still with us or not.

Whether you know someone that’s struggled with breast cancer or you yourself have, it’s no question that it has affected the lives of many women as well as their loved ones. According to cancer.org, an estimated one in every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and in the United States alone, there will be 281,550 new invasive case of women being diagnosed.

It’s not a question whether or not the topic of breast cancer should hold a permanent spot in our minds and our lips, but at least for this month alone, it’s crucial that we as a community do all that we can to ensure there is no silence regarding breast cancer. We must exhaust all of our efforts in conversing, raising awareness and making charitable donations to trusted organisations that are fighting the good fight. So the next time you wear pink, think of that woman – the woman that has been fighting for her life every day and night. It’s the least we can do.
