Celebrities, public figures, and industry leaders all flocked to Mumbai on March 31st to celebrate the grand opening of The Nita Ambani Cultural Centre. Created by the Ambani family, this world-class venue is the first of its kind for the region and is a new destination to foster the arts in India.

The programme for the evening included a remarkable production of The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation in The Grand Theatre. Heralded as “the star attraction” of The Nita Ambani Cultural Centre, the massive 2,000-seater venue features a ceiling-mounted light sculpture that is made with over 8,400 Swarovski crystals and a state-of-the-art sound system.

On day two of the opening, The Nita Ambani Cultural Centre rolled out the pink carpet to unveil its “India in Fashion” exhibition. Located within the centre’s Art House venue, the immersive exhibition features an exquisite collection of clothing curated by Hamish Bowles that celebrates the fine craftsmanship India is known for throughout the world. The event precedes the cultural centre’s April 3rd launch event for Rizzoli’s new book, edited by Bowles, India in Fashion: The Impact of Indian Dress and Textiles on the Fashionable Imagination.

Following the fashion event, the cultural centre hosted a Bollywood night afterparty. Shahrukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Ranveer Singh were among the stars to attend the epic closer. While the opening event might be over, it is just the beginning of the greatness that The Nita Ambani Cultural Centre will bring to India.
