“You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo, You traded a Rolex for a Casio,” disses Colombian singer Shakira in her new collaboration with Bizarrap called BZRP Music Sessions #53. The track that’s making headlines and breaking records is directed at her former husband, Spanish football player Gerard Piqué, and the ‘Twingo’ and ‘Casio’ in question is his new girlfriend Clara Chia Martí.
And now everyone’s wondering just who she is.
Clara has been private with her life, shutting down all of her public profiles since she was instantly thrust into the public eye after the reveal. But here’s what we know.
The 23-year-old hails from Spain and is reportedly a PR Student at a reputable private university. She works at Kosmos, Piqué’s sports and entertainment production company, and assists with event organising, which is presumably how they met.
According to multiple sources, her father is a civil lawyer hinting that she comes from a wealthy background. However, there are contrasting reports stating that she took on ‘odd’ jobs from a young age to support herself financially, and put herself through college.
The Budding Romance
After 11 years together and bringing two children into the world, Shakira and Piqué confirmed their split in June 2022 by releasing an amicable joint statement. It’s claimed they the former couple agreed on a pact in which they would not appear in public with their partners during the first year after the separation. But in under three months, Piqué was spotted at the Summerfest Cerdanya festival in Catalonia with his new love, Clara.
The couple went on to make their official public debut later in August, cosying up to each other while attending a close friend’s wedding at Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain.
According to people close to Piqué, everyone has been attempting to keep the relationship covert, even going so far as to keep her social media accounts private to hide her photos to keep attention away from them. Perhaps this implies that the couple is quite serious about each other.
