Middle Eastern food amalgamates a variety of different flavours, it’s alluring in aroma and is so beautifully vibrant in colour. Often it’s characterised by its spices and has the kind of rich mouth-watering taste so flavourful that it will have you wanting to come back for more. It’s really no wonder that it is one of the most treasured gourmets in the world.
Surprisingly, only twenty-five percent of the chefs worldwide are female, which is surprising considering that many of us have received traditional recipes handed down as heirlooms from our mothers, grandmothers and elders before them. We barely recall someone mentioning that a family recipe was passed down by their father or grandfather. So why is it that women are so poorly represented in the gastronomical industry?
Nowadays many women are independent with careers and some have also made careers in the kitchen. In honour of this, we have put together some of our favourite Middle Eastern cookbooks written by females.
