Ascia Al Faraj is a well-known Kuwaiti influencer and blogger. She’s made a name for herself with her quirky style, her flare and her vibrant energy – and has 2.7 million followers on Instagram to prove it.
.This week, the 29-year-old has come out on social media without her hijab – marking her personal decision not to wear it any more. She posted a video to her YouTube channel titled: “To New Beginnings” last Thursday to explain her decision, and it already has over 750,000 views. The video shows Ascia without her hijab speaking honestly to her fans about her decision to no longer wear it, as she reveals her gorgeous, wavy hair. The Kuwaiti influencer goes on to explain that the anxiety she has felt due to being in the public spotlight has negatively affected her health, therefore the decision for her was deeply personal, and related to mental health, identity and community.
As one of the largest fashion influencers in the region, Ascia’s first Instagram picture without her wearing the hijab has attracted over 25,000 comments. Today addressing her 2.7 million followers on Instagram, Ascia admits to laying low since the news broke understanding that the news may not be “well-received” but feels “proud of the woman she has become.”
