Arab models fashion week 2021

Diversity has become one of the main topics at the forefront of fashion. For years it felt as if there was a diversity problem in the fashion industry, with a lack of models and different ethnicities represented in ad campaigns and editorial shoots. There’s a long way to go before proclaiming true inclusivity. Still, a handful of designers are aiming to do their part and find a solution by showcasing diversity on their runways when it comes to casting their models.

From New York to London and now Milan, we’ve seen designers including diversity all across the runway. We have spotted megastar personalities from the region such as Egyptian – Moroccan model Imaan Hammam and Moroccan – Italian model Malika El-Maslouhi on the Spring-Summer 2021 runways this past week.

It’s essential to recognise the brands hiring a range of models from different regions, and seeing Middle Eastern talent amongst many international models is truly heartwarming. It shows designers are taking steps toward a more diverse future, including different ethnicities and sizes.
