Whether you loved or hated the Sex and the City reboot, it seemingly proved successful for HBO Max. Today it was announced that And Just Like That would be renewed for a second season. According to executive producer Michael Patrick King and HBO-HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys in an interview with Deadlineit was the most-viewed series premiere of a new original on the service.

“I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters – played by these powerful, amazing actors. The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just like That… our Sex life is back,” King said in a statement.

Added Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at HBO Max, “We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much. We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season 2!”

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis returned for the reboot which navigated the complicated lives and friendships of women in their 50s. The series however was criticised for clunky writing and a poor attempt at ‘wokeness’ causing divisive characters at nearly every turn. Not to mention that Chris Noth was also accused of sexual assault as the series went to air.

It is unknown who will return to season two or if we may see some new faces in the reboot (ahem, Kim Cattrall). In the meantime, we already have some thoughts on plot lines for season two. Will Carrie return to her SATC roots and finally start casually dating again? Perhaps we will learn more about Seema, Nya and Lisa.

Stay tuned for further developments.
