Alserkal Art Week is back for 2024 returning to Alserkal Avenue.

Anticipate enthralling and intriguing installations, exhibitions, pop-ups, slow art walks, workshops and a friendly community space. So grab some friends and head to Alserkal Avenue this weekend. Below, GRAZIA tells you everything about the latest edition of Alserkal Art Week.

The Art Programme

The lively contemporary arts and cultural centre of Alserkal Avenue has unveiled the return of Alserkal Art Week taking place from February 25 to March 3, 2024. To kick off the immersive event, a powerful piece by renowned artist and trailblazing video art practitioner Nalini Malani entitled “Can You Hear Me?” will be presented at Concrete. The opening day of the festival will also welcome curator Nada Raza in conversation with Malani.

On February 27, curated by Zoé Whitley, Walk With Me, is a series of public art commissions by the Alserkal Art Foundation. It includes pieces by artists such as Dima Srouji, Abbas Akhavan, Vikram Divecha and Asma Belhamar. Also taking place on February 27 is Majlis Talks. Majlis talks provide the opportunity for lively discussions and sharing between artists, architects, playwrights, musicians and filmmakers. The programme also includes a conversation with curator Tairone Bastien and Muhannad Shono titled “The Forgotten Place,” on March 2 at 3pm.

Alserkal Lates

On Tuesday, February 27, from 10am to 10pm, Alserkal Lates will be back, inviting guests to stroll along the Avenue after dark. Twelve intriguing new exhibition openings will be presented by the Avenue’s contemporary art galleries. As well as a slow art walk guided by curators at 8pm, conversational Majlis Talks and responsive public art commissions.

Gallery exhibitions

A series of gallery exhibitions will take place at Alserkal Art Week. From globally renowned artists to regional artists, there will be an array of breathtaking art to admire. Amongst the exhibitions is one of Germany’s most influential modern painters, André Butzer, showcasing his work in Carbon 12. As well as an exhibition by Farah Al Qasimi, presented by The Third Line, offering a distinctive method of visual storytelling. And that’s just a couple of the incredible art being presented.
