From their whirlwind romance that captivated the world, the royal wedding watched by millions, the high-stakes transition out of palace life, to the off-the-radar rebuilding that followed, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been through a lot together. In the ten years since their beginnings, they’ve become parents, founded businesses and endured family rifts and major legal battles, all while seemingly remaining as strong a couple as ever. Now, in a new cover story interview, the Duchess opens up about what remains special about their relationship.

Talking about their origins, she recalled the quality that first drew her in back in 2016.

“You have someone who just has this childlike wonder and playfulness,” the former Suits star explained. “I was so drawn to that, and he brought that out in me. That’s translated into every part of our lives. Even in business, I want us to play and have fun and explore and be creative.”

Now firmly settled in Montecito with their children—six-year-old Prince Archie Harrison and four-year-old Princess Lilibet Diana—the pair run their many ventures together. Amid all the rumours and scrutiny that have defined much of their lives, Markle emphasises the security she feels with her husband.

“He loves me so boldly, fully, and he also has a different perspective because he sees media that I wouldn’t,” she explains. “No one in the world loves me more than him, so I know he’s always going to make sure that he has my back.”

Markle, 44, and Prince Harry, 41, were first introduced through friends and kept their early dates under the radar before making a public appearance at the Invictus Games opening ceremony in Toronto, Canada, in September 2017.

The couple announced their engagement just a few months later in November, and were married shortly after on May 19, 2018.
