Bella Hadid has been hospitalised for chronic Lyme disease, her mother Yolanda Hadid, revealed in a heart-wrenching Instagram post last week.

Sharing a series of photos in a carousel on the social media platform of a teary-eyed Bella in hospital, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star referred to her daughter as a “fighter” and “warrior” as her supermodel daughter “fought through another month of treatment” for her “chronic neurological Lyme disease”.

“I admire your bravery and your willingness to keep fighting for health despite the failing protocols and countless setbacks you have faced,” she wrote to her daughter. “There simply aren’t words big enough for the darkness, the pain, and the unknown hell you’ve lived through since your diagnosis in 2013.

“You didn’t really live, you learned how to exist inside the jail of your own paralysed brain. I am so proud of the fighter that you are. You are not alone, I promise to have your back every step of the way, no matter how long this takes.”

Yolanda’s post comes after Bella shared her own update to her fans, albeit a more brief one.

“I’m sorry I always go MIA I love you guys,” she captioned a carousel of photos shared to her 61 million Instagram followers, which showcased the 28-year-old in a hospital bed having blood drawn, hooked up to various machines, intaking oxygen and more.

This is the second time in two years that Bella has shared a public update on her reported battle with “chronic Lyme disease”.

In 2023, the Orebella founder revealed she had sought over 100 days of treatment for her Lyme disease which, at the time, she declared she was “finally healthy”.

“Living in this state, worsening with time and work while trying to make myself, my family and the people who support me, proud, had taken a toll on me in ways I can’t really explain,” she explained in a lengthy post.

At the time, Bella had taken a significant hiatus from the fashion world. She made a triumphant return the following year in September 2024 at Paris Fashion Week, walking in the Saint Laurent show for the fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2025 showcase.

Wearing a classic Saint Laurent look, reminiscent of the Maison’s founder Yves Saint Laurent himself, Bella walked the runway in a black slouchy suit which featured an oversized blazer, oversized trousers, a white shirt, black tie and thick black-framed glasses.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, Lyme disease is “caused by a bacterium, Borrelia burgdorferi” when a deer tick bites an individual. Symptoms of the disease can include fevers, headaches, joint pain, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes and more.

Bella was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012 when she was just 14. Her brother, Anwar Hadid, now 26, and mother, Yolanda, 61, also suffer from the same disease.
