The beloved Egyptian actress Nelly Karim has been unveiled as the newest brand ambassador of Prada Beauty.

The popular beauty brand, which launched its makeup arm last year, entered the Egyptian market in July and following this summer launch, the beauty arm of Italian fashion house revealed its regional campaign with the Egyptian star.

“The secret is out, meet my new obsession. Prada Beauty is now in Egypt,” Karim said on Instagram, sharing a photo of herself holding the famed Prada Paradoxe fragrance.

Born in Alexandria to an Egyptian father and Russian mother, prior to her acting career, Karim was a professionally trained ballerina.

It was her first television series Wageh El Amar, which premiered in 2000, that catapulted her acting career and since then she has gone on to become one of Egypt’s most famous faces with notable roles in 678, A Girl Named Zaat, and Women’s Prison. Most recently, Karim starred in the Ramadan series My Sisters (Ekhwaty). And now the actress can add Prada Beauty ambassador to her long list of accolades.

Prada’s popular fragrance Paradoxe first launched in 2022, with the official Prada makeup and skincare line launching two years later.

Prada Beauty aims to give flawless results with the least effort, rethinking colour with its tech-augmented makeup range covering eyes and lips. Among Prada’s colour collection are three long-lasting multi-effect eyeshadow palettes, a lip-optimised Prada Balm, and 26 shades of Prada Monochrome matte lipsticks.

Miuccia Prada herself oversaw the development of the beauty line, ensuring each item encompassed the house’s signature DNA.

“Abandoning all the clichés of the past, we believe that beauty today is the representation of one’s personality, freedom and self-confidence,” she said, discussing the new beauty line at the time of the launch.
