From film to philanthropy, Mohammed Al Turki is a household name that keeps getting echoed across industries and spaces. Most recently the Saudi trailblazer made it to the Cannes radar as the Philanthropic Leadership Award recipient by the prestigious amfAR Venezia 2024.

Founded in 1985 as a response to the devastating epidemic that had ravaged the world, amFAR is a leading nonprofit in research and prevention for AIDs. Working tirelessly to create better options and dismantle stigma, the Kindgom-bred producer was acknowledged by the charity for his upended commitment to the cause.

Announced last month through the organisation’s official Instagram account, the caption read: “Thanks in part to his leadership, Red Sea Film Festival has been a generous supporter of amFAR’s work for many years and has helped advance our lifesaving research.

Taking the stage on September 1st, the accomplished 38-year-old was presented his award by long-time friend and award-winning actress Eva Longoria. “Touched and humbled” his immense gratitude and unyielding continued support to the research and movement was made evident through his moving speech and post-event Instagram updates. Acknowledging all the support agents in his life and the organisations that propelled him forward, he ended his touching caption with “This is a surreal moment from your boy from Al Khobar Saudi Arabia…”

As the previous CEO of the esteemed Red Sea Film Foundation, Mohammed’s career has been one of many milestones and accomplishments. Garnering its most recent win through its coveted Cannes Film Festival selection for its generously funded film Norah, the Saudi visionary has undeniably played an integral role in growing the nation’s creative film footprint.
