When Charli XCX sang “She’s everywhere, she’s so Julia” on the opening single of her generation-defining album brat, the British songstress must’ve been referring to the now sold-out white shirt dress designed by Zac Posen for GAP. Yes, the American designer’s humble summer linen maxi has once again made headlines after New York’s most avant-garde dresser, Julia Fox, wore the piece for a casual stroll captured by onlooking paparazzi. Very demure, very mindful.

The style in question retails for under Dhs600 and features a balmy shape perfect for staying both cool and chic amid rising mercury levels. Or, if you’re the Uncut Gems breakout star turned author, a vessel to channel your inner lady of Park Avenue.

Though Fox’s destination wasn’t clear, she certainly made a statement by styling the dress with a poplin cotton head scarf similar to Hunter Schafer’s Prada version from the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, a chartreuse wide-brim hat and sheer opera gloves. She also carried a transparent glass purse which contained nothing save for a few hundred dollar bills. A brat summer, indeed.

As you may recall, the design went viral back in late May when Anne Hathaway wore the piece for a Bulgari event in Rome. Embracing high-low dressing, the actress styled the piece open with a corset underneath and a high jewellery necklace courtesy of the Italian luxuriate.

Fox continued this streak by wearing it off the shoulder and buttoning up the dress to a different corresponding hole, which created a scrunching effect through the middle. As we head into higher temperatures, take these two very different interpretations of a wardrobe staple to experiment with shirting and tailoring. With endless styling possibilities, it might just help you realise you have a brand new wardrobe and way of wearing your existing pieces. It’s open season.
