Netflix has announced the launch of a new seven-week Creative Producer training program which will help 15 emerging and professional Saudi television creative producers. The leading University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) will help the individuals who join the program by forming and executing a TV pitch, and also creating a pilot script. The course will be led by Jason Shuman who is an SCA alumni as well as an award-winning film writer and producer.

Netflix created this training program to promote the network in the global film industry. Saudi producers will gain the necessary skills and opportunities which will help the new upcoming producers rise up and advance in their film and television careers. The training in Riyadh lasted three days of intensive training which covered a full range of skills that are required to develop high-quality TV shows. The participants challenged themselves with a variety of different tasks, such as creating a pitch for a script and also a script for a series, as well as the actual production of a pilot.

The award-winning film and television producer, Jason Shuman mentioned; “the entire program was beautifully put together. I was thoroughly impressed with the passion and professionalism of both the Netflix and SCA team. The students in attendance may have been born and raised far from Hollywood, but their love and appreciation for the arts, especially in the medium of television, was as genuine as I’ve ever seen. I am excited for the future of storytelling in Saudi Arabia.”
