Twenty-year-old Wednesday star Jenna Ortega was resplendent in a floor-skimming Gucci gown at the Golden Globes today, plucked directly from the Italian House’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway “Twinsburg”.
Shown in Milan in September – and unbeknown to the audience at the time – it would be creative director Alessandro Michele’s last show, with Gucci announcing his exit just two months later.
Ortega’s pleats and cut-outs were reminiscent of one very famous sartorial moment at the same event just three years ago: Gwyneth Paltrow wearing a sheer Fendi gown with cascading ruffles – and layered Bulgari jewels underneath her neckline – to the 2020 Golden Globe Awards.
Ortega, too, opted for layers of necklaces, choosing from Tiffany & Co’s Schlumberger, T1, and Elsa Peretti collections. The young actress’ stylist Enrique Melendez (who counts Julia Butters as a client as well) finished the look with a Tiffany & Co Schlumberger bracelet, earrings and rings, as well as Victoria and Paloma rings.
The Coachella Valley-born actress is the star of Tim Burton’s new YA television series where she plays Wednesday Addams. The show was an instant hit and, upon release in December, set English language records for hours watched in its first week, beating out even Stranger Things season four.
Ortega is nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series in the musical or comedy category today at the Golden Globes. She is up against Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary, Kaley Cuoco for The Flight Attendant, Selena Gomez for Only Murders in the Building, and Jean Smart for Hacks. Wednesday is nominated as Best Television Series in the musical or comedy category.
Wednesday is now streaming on Netflix.
