Just when we thought Halloween couldn’t get any better in 2021 (hello Harry Styles dressed as Dorothy), this happens. After Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum reached the “don’t care who knows it” stage of their relationship last month, the pair took the next step in their partnership this week: couple’s costuming.
On Instagram stories overnight, a notoriously private Kravitz shared a single image of herself and Tatum in costumes inspired by Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster’s characters from Martin Scorsese’s classic 1976 film Taxi Driver.
The Magic Mike frontman portrayed ‘Travis Bickle’ and wore blue jeans, a khaki jacket and a mohawk. He also had blood splattered over his face. The actress dressed as ‘Iris Steensma’ in a white sunhat, floral crop, red shorts and red strappy heels.
For those unacquainted with the classic film, Taxi Drive follows an insomniac ex-Marine and Vietnam War veteran living in New York City who drives taxis at night. He meets a woman and strives to become the self-confessed saviour of a twelve-year-old runaway and prostitute.
They’re not the only celebrity couple to reference old-school cinema for Halloween. It comes after Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker recreated the movie poster to Quentin Tarantino’s 1993 film, True Romance.
Rumours that Kravitz and Tatum were dating was first sparked in early January, just days after Kravitz finished the divorce process from then-husband Karl Glusman. Since then the pair had been seen multiple times together – but with strictly no PDA – and were again spotted leaving the Met Gala together in September. It was until just weeks ago that Kravitz and Tatum were seen holding hands.
“They spent the weekend in NYC, strolled around the city, met up with friends and visited the Guggenheim Museum,” a source for People said in September. “They looked very happy. They have this cute and flirty chemistry.”
Tatum was last married to Jenna Dewan but split after nine years together in 2018.
