If the Kardashian family are incredible at anything, it’s Halloween. It’s only natural that each year we patiently wait for the costume unveilings on social media (see the best of 2021, here) and this year, soon-to-be-betrothed Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker did not disappoint. Following the couple’s engagement last month, the pair chose a fitting theme: Quentin Tarantino’s True Romance.
Recreating the ’90s movie poster (after all, the era is on trend), Kardashian wore a blonde bobbed wig, blue square sunglasses and pink leopard leggings. Barker was barely recognisable and opted for a brown jacket, similar red Hawaiian shirt and blue jeans. Even the graphics were on point, replacing original stars Patricia Arquette and Christian Slater with their own names.
In the caption, Kardashian made reference to one of the film’s famous quotes: “Amid the chaos of that day, when all I could hear was the thunder of gunshots, and all I could smell was the violence in the air, I look back and am amazed that my thoughts were so clear and true, that three words went through my mind endlessly, repeating themselves like a broken record: you’re so cool, you’re so cool, you’re so cool.”
They posed for two more pictures; one upon a vintage fuchsia car (the dream) and another with their legs entangled in front of a plain white background.
True Romance was released in 1993. Directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino, it follows a lonely pop culture geek from Detroit who marries a call girl and steals cocaine from her pimp. He attempts to sell it in Hollywood and flee before the owners track the couple down.
Barker proposed to Kardashian on October 17 at a beach in Montecito. First news of their relationship arrived in January 2021 after the couple had been “quietly dating” for several months. We expect this is the first of many Halloween costumes to come.
