Last week it was announced that Sydney Sweeney would follow in the footsteps of Jane Fonda in a Sony Pictures remake of the 1968 space opera Barbarella. At the time of publishing there is no director, producer or writer attached to the upcoming film but that hasn’t stopped the actress from going method.
Stepping out at a red carpet event in Los Angeles overnight the actress seemingly paid homage to the titular heroine in a head-to-toe leather look from the Rhok spring/summer 2023 runway. The look featured wide-legged leather trousers and a cutout blazer with moulded cups. Instead of Fonda’s voluminous locks, Sweeney opted for a wet look courtesy of hair stylist Glen Coco Oropeza.
Sweeney is not stranger to honouring her on-screen characters. Amid promotional appearances for the HBO Max series Euphoria the actress donned sequin low rise Miu Miu skirts and flirty pastel hues that Cassie would be proud of. Are we about to see a new baddie era? We simply cannot wait.
The 25-year-old was honoured this year as a first-time Emmy nominee in the Best Supporting Actress category twice for her role as Cassie in Euphoria and Olivia in The White Lotus.

It’s an honor to know that both Olivia and Cassie have connected with so many,” Sweeney wrote in reaction to the news. “I’m so proud of both these shows and grateful to everybody that’s been apart of them. But most importantly mom, I love you, we did it through the ups and downs!🥺♥️🥰 thank you thank you!!”
She is currently preparing to appear in the upcoming Marvel film Madame Web alongside Dakota Johnson.
