In May, Kendall Jenner was photographed wearing black pleated trousers and an androgynous waistcoat thus launching the tricky trend into the sartorial stratosphere. While her ensemble was courtesy of Mary-Kate and Ashley’s luxury label The Row, it has made way for many interpretations of the style.

Buzzy resort wear label SIR. released a more laid back vest earlier this season, while fellow Australian brand Camilla And Marc injected a pop of colour into the silhouette. And it appears that Sophie Turner is a fan.

The Game of Thrones actress was first seen in the vest and pant ensemble (dubbed the “Laine Suit” by the brand) on November 14 as she attended a Saturday Night Live afterparty with husband, Joe Jonas. The waistcoat was left open for a white bralette to peek through and paired under a leather jacket. At the time it was unclear which designer was responsible for the chic tailoring.

Today Camilla And Marc ID’d the piece which is now available to purchase.

We can trace back our affinity for the waistcoat to TV fashion icon Fran Fine from American ’90s sitcom, The Nanny. Her famous rainbow striped style was layered over a shirt. If you need further convincing of the waistcoat trend however, former Victoria’s Secret model Elsa Hosk opted for the look in June and proved that a sneaker can be paired with the suiting ensemble.

As for Turner, the 25-year-old has quickly become one of the most unassuming style icons in Hollywood. She was recently the face of Nicholas Ghesquiere’s Louis Vuitton and earlier this year attended date night wearing a sheer black bodysuit by the cult namesake label, Nensi Dojaka. Her wedding dress was also one of the best gowns in 2019.

Be right back, we’re adding this look to our cart.
