It’s always fun to see celebs’ wedding photos. We want to share in their joy, obviously, but we are also very curious to see what they wore, who designed it and whether or not it worked. For many women, it’s the most important fashion decision they’ll ever make. Less so if you’re in the public eye and attending glam events all the time anyway, but choosing your wedding outfit is still not a decision to be taken lightly. Now that wedding season in the northern hemisphere has well and truly come to a close, we bring you our favourite five from the year to date.

  1. Sophie Turner married Joe Jonas in the south of France and enlisted none other than Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière to make her wedding gown.

She went down a quite traditional route, opting for a modest v-neck, square silk shoulders and lace sleeves paired with a floor length, flowing white lace skirt. She wore a classic veil, her hair centre-parted and in soft waves, and clutched a bunch of white flowers. It was all very Sansa Stark, and she looked like a dream.

2. In fairness to the other brides featured here, we’re not going to show ALL the gowns Priyanka Chopra wore for her extended wedding celebrations. There were a lot, from her bridal shower to various pre-reception gowns and reception outfits. But behold the first ceremonial gown, a custom Ralph Lauren creation, the first time Lauren has created a wedding gown for someone outside his family and the third time overall he’s made a custom bridal gown.

See also her first Hindu ceremonial dress by Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi. It took 110 embroiderers a total of 3,720 hours to create and included Jonas’s name and Chopra’s parents’ names sewn into the waistband in her native language.

3. Heidi Klum wore a voluminous Valentino number by Pierpaolo Piccioli, worn off the shoulders with big puffy sleeves, a sweetheart neckline and floral applique design. It was flouncy, feminine and fun, a bit like Heidi herself.

4. Ellie Goulding changed wedding outfits no less than four times but her first was the most memorable — a Victorian-style gown by Natacha Ramsay-Levi at Chloe with a high ruffled neck, long skirt and dotted with intricate embroidery. The petticoat featured hand-stitched White Roses of York and glass beading in a nod to Jopling’s Yorkshire upbringing, and the dress took over 640 hours in total to make.

5. Lady Gabriella Windsor is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Prince Michael is the Queen’s first cousin, so that explains why the likes of Harry, the Queen and Beatrice attended her wedding. She also wore a jaw-dropping dress by Italian designer Luisa Beccaria with a sheer floral long sleeved overlay, super-long train and a diamond headband worn by her grandmother on her wedding day.
