The original Bling Ring squad, who became infamous in the early aughts for breaking into multiple A-lister’s houses, might’ve retired, but that doesn’t mean celebrities are safe from crime.

Over the weekend, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes were spending a quiet night at home in their Los Angeles mansion when burglars broke in through a window to rob the house, assuming the pair weren’t there.

Sources told TMZ that once the suspects realised the famous singers were, in fact, inside, they made a quick getaway, grabbing the keys to Mendes’ Mercedes G-Wagon and fleeing the scene in it.

Police were called to the house and the LAPD investigation is ongoing, although no arrests have been made and Mendes’ car is still missing.

Though Mendes and Cabello’s relationship was originally assumed to be a publicity stunt to promote their 2018 single, ‘Señorita’, the pair have now more than proved skeptics wrong: they’ve been going strong for almost two years, and even quarantined together throughout 2020.

Recently, Mendes took to Instagram to share a birthday tribute to his girlfriend, writing alongside a candid couple photo, “Happy birthday to the kindest, bravest and most beautiful person I’ve ever known. I love you more every day mi vida.”

In December 2020, during an interview on SiriusXM, Mendes opened up about his relationship with Cabello, saying the singer has taught him how to love. “She is completely all in or nothing,” he began. “And I think that’s something that I wasn’t at the beginning of our relationship. And I think that a lot of people maybe are afraid to be all in, because if you’re all in, then you kind of, it hurts it. The blow hurts that much more if it ends, you know? But she really teaches me that if we have one life and we don’t have much time here, it might as well be all in if you’re in love with someone and you’re there.”

He continued, “I kind of learned that every day. She’s so absolutely patient with me, especially when I’m stressed or anything is kind of getting to me. She’ll text me. And if I ever am kind of just being bite-y with her and she’d be like, ‘It’s okay. I love you. No matter what I love you, no matter what.’ And it’s like, that’s real strength and patience and love. But it’s amazing. It’s like a movie.”
