Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello were two of the many celebrities to be spotted during Coachella weekend, alongside Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny, Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet and, an unlikely duo, Irina Shayk and Leonardo DiCaprio.
But unlike the Jenner sisters and Leo’s latest supermodel target, Cabello and Mendes’ relationship is nothing new — rather, the couple broke up in 2021 after two years of dating, and, as far as we knew, there were no signs of reconciliation on the cards until festival goers saw them (and filmed them) locking lips in the crowd on Friday night.
Before we get too ahead of ourselves, however, a source has spoken out saying the pair aren’t planning on getting back together and that the kiss was more of a “one-off.”
An inside told Page Six that, for now, both Mendes and Cabello are single and just friendly, saying, “Shawn and Camila remain friends with a lot of love and history between them, but they aren’t dating again.”
“They’ve stayed in touch since their breakup and decided to meet up at Coachella since they were both going. One thing led to another as the night progressed,” they continued, calling the “one-off” kiss a byproduct of that.
When they initially broke up in November 2021, a source told E! “the relationship was getting stale and complacent and they decided they are better off being friends.”
Now all that’s left to wonder is what celebrity romance news Coachella’s second weekend will bring…
