It may be the norm for a fashion mortal to carry her favourite handbag every day, but when you’re Selena Gomez – where (let’s be real) no price, brand or limited edition lust-have is off limits – to be papped toting the same carry-all four days in a row is something of a big deal.

Still, it makes sense that she’s partial to this limited edition red bag given she co-designed it with a luxury brand she just happens to be the global face of.

Between August 24 and September 5, style-watchers were gifted with no less than five glimpses of her carrying her Grace Bag – each time teamed with a completely different style of street outfit, no doubt to showcase its boundless style versatility. (Who said celebrities couldn’t be commercially-minded!?)

First, she teamed it with a kitschy unicorn knit, palazzo pants and classic heels for a more dressed-up day look in downtown Los Angeles.

Then the following week on September 3 and the opposite side of the United States, Gomez appeared alongside boyfriend Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) looking like a typical, chic New Yorker in cropped designer jeans, fitted black knit and heeled black ankle boots. Her outfit highlight? Said red tote, this time worn as a cross-body.

The next day though called for a more sports luxe vibe: white tracksuit, trainers and tee with hair in high pony, all nicely ticking the ‘gym bag alternative’ box. Her aptly-named “Selena Red” bag and pink mirrored shades provided the only pop of colour needed.

Twenty-four hours later on September 5 (an appropriate date for the bag’s fifth outing) Gomez went the opposite sartorial direction, opting for a sweet floral middy dress with casual trainers and black Hepburn-esque sunglasses and her tote doubling as a place to hang a cable-knit cardigan.

Here’s the best news for anyone as besotted with the style as us: this Grace Bag in ‘Selena Red’ is part of an eight-piece limited edition Selena x Coach collection that dropped globally yesterday after months of teasing and campaign reveals.

There’s plenty about the bag itself that channels Gomez’s personal brand and ethos. Each sports a swing tag shaped in her signature star shape and embossed with the words Love Yourself First – which she famously sports as a tattoo – scrolled in her own handwriting.

Then, just to drive home the personal empowerment message home, there’s a patch sewn into each piece too with another of her favourite mantras: To be you is to be strong.

If wild red’s not your thing, you can also buy it in white or two-tone black and cherry at the same $725 price. You can also snap up the swing tags on their own for a snip at $125 or a smaller wristlet purse in the same three colour-ways for $275.
