Pete Davidson has a long and storied dating history but before his tendency for serial dating (and well before his relationship with Kim Kardashian) he was engaged to Ariana Grande. The pair met in March 2016 but didn’t start dating until May 2018. By June that same year they were engaged and in October they made a surprising split.

There is no doubt that PR was at work for the couple’s whirlwind love but according to a scathing new article from Business Insider, Grande’s then-manager Scooter Braun (behind the selling of Taylor Swift’s masters) was reportedly deeply involved within the relationship. The publication reported that Braun had introduced the pair and he was also behind the quick release of Grande’s music video “Thank U, Next” following the breakup. At the time, it was the most watched music video debut on the platform.

A source for Business Insider added that Davidson felt “blindsided” by the release. “I think their relationship didn’t get a fair shake because management was so involved,” they said.

It was later revealed that the pop star had fired Braun for six months after meddling in her personal relationships. “He definitely gets involved in his clients’ business and personal relationships,” a source for US Weekly said. “At one point, Ariana fired him because she had had it.”

Just six months later, Grande and Braun resumed their working relationship.

Within the article Braun is also accused of being a “quasi-parental figure” to Justin Bieber and “appeared to be enmeshed in nearly all aspects” of his life – including his on-again off-again relationship with Selena Gomez.

By all accounts all stars are happy. Davidson is currently dating Kardashian and Grande married Dalton Gomez in 2021. Bieber married Hailey Baldwin in 2019 while Gomez is believed to be happily single like the queen she is.
