Reese Witherspoon has sent Big Little Lies fans into a spin this afternoon after posting an image of herself, Laura Dern and Nicole Kidman from a shoot of some description. Captioning the post “Working on some new lies”, a lot of internet-goers thought Weatherspoon, who plays school pick-up ringleader Madeline of Monterey, was alluding to a new season of the American hit show.
HBO were forced to confirm to E! News that the photo was actually taken from a recent photoshoot (we repeat: not from the film set.) But we haven’t given up hope yet. Just last month, author Liane Moriarty said she was keen to think up some new storylines for Madeline, Celeste, Jane and Renata.
“I have started to think about ways this could continue,” Moriaty told SMH. “The producers have asked me to see if I can come up with some ideas. I wouldn’t write a new book but perhaps a new story and then we’ll see what happens.”
“I’m absolutely open to it because, once I started thinking, it was too much fun to see what I could do and to see these characters again,” she continued. “And there’s definitely places you can go.”
