Here’s one epic fashion comeback no-one saw coming. Aside from the ubiquitous ‘Daggy Dad’ trainer that’s dominating street style across both genders, the bucket hat is the biggest retro-look accessory reboot of 2018.

Bella Hadid, Suki Waterhouse and Rihanna were quick to jump on the bandwagon earlier this year – the former wearing hers for a dress-down day look, the other two even daring to wear on the red carpet.

All of this is a far cry of course from the kooky hat’s first outing in the 1980s: think breakdance crews and rappers like LL Cool J and Run DMC wearing them for their ironic appeal. Today it’s supermodels, singing superstars and fashion editors giving them a high-fashion twist.
