It’s been a while since we had a good, old fashioned red carpet—and boy have we missed it. At the E! People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles this afternoon, we had our first dose of proper A-list glamour in months, with the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Tracee Ellis Ross, Sofia Vergara, Demi Lovato and a newly-pregnant Mandy Moore all in attendance.

Unsurprisingly, attendees didn’t hold back with a vast array of truly fabulous ensembles—think: bold magenta oversized suits, embellished Elie Saab, and an asymmetrical shirt dress by Alexander McQueen. Here, our contributing editors, Grace O’Neill and Isabelle Truman, weigh in on their favourite—and… not so favourite—looks from the red carpet. Enjoy.

Joey King in Robert Wun

“There’s a lot going on with this outfit—an asymmetric pleated skirt, a jumpsuit, a cinched bodice—and yet it all kind of… works, thanks to the sheer craftsmanship of emerging London designer Robert Wun. Bravo to Joey King for taking a fashion risk that paid off.” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“I love the deep red shade and strapless look on King’s skin tone, especially paired with simple hair and makeup. She looks young and fresh.” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor

Sofia Vergara in Dolce & Gabbana

“Am I thrilled? No. But it’s practically impossible for Sofia Vergara to look anything but splendid.” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“I agree with Grace: this isn’t my favourite look, but I love that Vergara has gone all out: from the bejewelled heels to her matching lipstick. When one barely has reason to leave the house at all this year, why not go for it when you can.” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor

Leslie Jones in Christian Siriano

“And to think Leslie Jones struggled to find designers to dress her a mere few years ago. This look is brilliant—flattering and smart all at once.” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“Gorgeous. I especially appreciate the cleavage, which, in my humble opinion, we don’t see enough of these days.” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor

Mandy Moore in Brandon Maxwell

“Hard to get particularly excited by a turtleneck dress, but happy to see Mandy Moore looking resplendent with her growing baby bump.” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“Moore looks really elegant in this Brandon Maxwell design, reminiscent of Meghan Markle’s iconic baby bump moment at the British Fashion Awards last year.” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor

Jameela Jamil in Christopher John Rodgers

“Jameela Jamil is a lucky girl to be working with Luxury Law—he is a true fashion genius. This Christopher John Rodgers ensemble is impeccable.” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“Jamil looks stunning here. Bright colours really suit her stunning features and I love the bold structuring of this suit.” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor

Ellen Pompeo in David Koma

“I’m agitated at whoever Ellen Pompeo’s stylist is by the very obvious nude crop bra, but she always looks beautiful.” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“I love that Pompeo opted for a sparkly suit. I didn’t expect that from her, but love how fun it is. Perfect for the People’s Choice Awards.” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor

Demi Lovato in Elie Saab

“This is a really flattering silhouette for Demi Lovato—and the blush colour looks great on her. I’m not fully sold on the blonde wig, but it’s her third look of the night: who doesn’t like a little diversity?” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“I have a soft spot for Demi Lovato and love seeing her looking happy and healthy. I preferred her red, sequin outfit from earlier in the night, but she still looks great here.” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor

Tiffany Haddish in Prabal Gurung

“The cut of this dress works so perfectly on Tiffany Haddish. Angelina Jolie whom?” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“Haddish looks so effortlessly stunning here. I love the cut of her dress and her simple beauty look.” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor

Jennifer Lopez in Christian Siriano

“We’ve seen so much Christian Siriano tonight! I’m happy for it. JLo looks phenomenal in this dress.” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“Flirty, fun and perfect for the night. JLo, unsurprisingly, looks heavenly here.” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor

Tracee Ellis Ross in Alexander McQueen

“This was one of my favourite looks from Sarah Burton’s autumn winter ’20 collection for Alexander McQueen, back when it debuted in March. I can’t imagine anyone it would look better on—Tracee Ellis Ross is my best-dressed of the night, by a mile.” – Grace O’Neill, contributing editor

“I agree with the above. I can’t get enough of Tracee Ellis Ross in this McQueen ensemble. The boots! The dress! That face!” – Isabelle Truman, contributing editor
