Overnight, lucky industry guests at CinemaCon were treated to an unreleased preview of Don’t Worry Darling, Olivia Wilde’s highly-publicised psychological thriller starring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh. While a trailer has not been released to the public just yet, the actress and filmmaker shared a steamy still from the forthcoming movie.

“9 • 23 • 22 only in theaters,” Wilde shared to Instagram today, teasing the release date. Teased footage reveals Styles and Pugh in bed. The star-studded pair will also be joined by Chris Pine, Gemma Chan and Kiki Layne.

According to a past report from Colliderthe film is set in the 1950’s and follows an “unhappy housewife (Alice) who slowly begins to question her own sanity when she starts to notice strange occurrences in her small, utopian community in the California desert”. Styles portrays her “picture-perfect husband (Jack), who loves her dearly, but is hiding a dark secret from her.”

Speaking at CinemaCon, Wilde discussed the inspiration behind the film which interestingly draws cues from Inception, The Matrix and The Truman Show. Per Variety, she dubbed the movie “a love letter to movies that push the boundaries of imagination.”

“I want you to imagine a life you had everything you could possibly dream of,” she told industry guests. “Not just a perfect house, cars… What would it take for you to give up that life, to do what’s right?”

This is just the second film Wilde has directed and follows her critically-acclaimed Booksmart from 2019. Don’t Worry Darling underwent a bidding war with 18 different studios vying for the rights. She chose Warner Bros. to ensure it received a theatrical release.

The film set was also where Wilde and Styles first sparked their romantic relationship which by all accounts is still going strong. Consider us, sold.
