Cannes Film Festival 2023: Naomi Campbell Stuns In Glittering Celine + Chopard
A shady lady, indeed
CANNES, FRANCE: If there ever were a model to personify the vibe here along the Côte d’Azur this time of year, it’s Dr. Naomi Campbell in new season Celine on the 76thCannes Film Festival red carpet: plunging, sequinned gown; enormous shades; a pursed lip.
With a middle part as blunt as her attitude toward anyone who crosses her, the Super sauntered about the red carpet at the Grand Lumiere theatre on May 16, while the flank of black-cloaked photographers almost fell over one another to get their money shot. The roar of their collective calls—“Noami, over your shoulder!”—added the acoustics to the true star of the premiere: her Celine gown. As Campbell moved, it almost seemed as though light bathing the surrounding tall white buildings was ricocheting straight onto the gown’s thousands of sequins.
The 52-year-old’s jewellery for the evening was by Chopard.
Campbell was attending the much-hyped, albeit controversial, premiere of Jeanne du Barry; a period drama directed by and starring Maïwenn, and also starring Johnny Depp. The film explores Louis XV’s last, official mistress Jeanne Bécu, and received heat from critics who believed a Depp-starring film shouldn’t open the festival.
The most revered arena for international film, esteemed directors, filmmakers, and actors, the scenes along La Croisette and its surrounding hotels, are runways to the biggest fashion moments outside the February and September international shows.

And if you’re on the French Riviera, sunglasses and a pursed lip as per the Doctor’s orders.
