When Michael B. Jordan was first reported to be dating a gorgeous woman who happened not to be any of us (sob), hearts around the world broke. But pretty soon after, those invested in the actor began to ship his girlfriend, Lori Harvey, and the pair’s ridiculously cute relationship. There were holiday photos, loved up Instagram captions, and even red carpet debuts and soon enough, they became one of Hollywood’s favourite new romances.
But fast-forward to today and we’re heartbroken yet again — for a different reason this time: after a year together, People is reporting Jordan and Harvey have ended their relationship. The publication says a source close to the former couple confirmed the split, adding both parties are “completely heartbroken” and “still love each other.”
“Michael and Lori are both completely heartbroken. They still love each other,” they said, adding, “Michael matured a lot over the course of their relationship and was ready to commit for the long term. He let down his guard with her, opening up emotionally in a romantic relationship for the first time. They had great times together and brought out the best in each other.”
In a December 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan said similar, noting how his relationship had impacted his life and career in a positive way. “There are roles that I passed on that I knew I didn’t have enough life experience to play. I was like, ‘What can I pull from?'” he explained. “But I finally found what love was.”
A few hours after People’s story, Us Weekly has also reported on the split, noting that while neither Jordan nor Harvey have confirmed it officially themselves, Harvey has “scrubbed Jordan’s presence from her social media profiles.” Read: it’s not looking good.
Jordan, meanwhile, still has his tributes to Harvey live, his latest being a post from March of their date night out at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, which is now inundated with comments about the split.
Here’s hoping there’s still a chance of a reconciliation on the cards.
