It’s around this time of year that the impacts of cuffing season begin to come into effect. The period of heightened partnerships is a much-needed anthesis to quell the summer of breakups, with months leading up to the festive period allowing the newly single to mend their heartbreaks in the arms of one another.
Two people who fell victim to the relationship rampage are Hollywood actors Lupita Nyong’o and Joshua Jackson, who were recently spotted together buying groceries at the organic grocery store, Erewhon. Could this be a case of burgeoning love on aisle five?
Their second sighting comes after Nyong’o and Jackson were spotted attending a Janelle Monáe concert in Los Angeles. According to reports, the Oscar winner and Dawson’s Creek alumni were “seen gazing into each other’s eyes and sharing a joke” during Monáe’s set.
Naturally, this outing piqued the interest of netizens given their seemingly romantic jaunt came only a month after Jackson and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith, announced their divorce.
Now, tabloids are speculating that this innocuous run to buy groceries is the pair’s attempt to confirm their newfound romance.
Both Jackson and Nyong’o cut a casual figure, with the public appearance coming days after the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star attended the 2023 Academy Museum Gala in a stunning Chanel gown.
In images, which you can see here, Jackson and Nyong’o didn’t appear to be overtly affectionate. The pictures show the duo walking to their car. Nyong’o’s rescue cat, YoYo, was seen in the back seat, presumably accompanying them for the quick trip.
Fuelling rumours of their relationship was the announcement of Nyogno’s breakup with her long-time boyfriend, uncannily released the day after she was spotted with Jackson.
Neither party has addressed the rumours, but Nyong’o did write at the time of her split that she was in a “season of heartbreak”. Though Erewhon doesn’t sell any love potions—just Hailey Bieber smoothies and Balenciaga juices—it appears that these excursions are certainly helping Nyong’o get over her heartbreak. In the spirit of When Harry Met Sally, we’ll take what she’s having.
