Following her breakout appearance as Mary Austin in the 2018 biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, we’ve come to love Lucy Boynton more and more. It helps of course that she’s the queen of glitter eyeshadow and luscious spidery lashes. Not to mention her sweet relationship to co-star Rami Malek. We have more reason to praise the actress after she handed out some amazing career advice for female creatives.

You’ll want to add this to your inspirational quotes. Speaking with ELLE US she shared her tips for up-and-coming creatives.

“Always stay true to your art because there will be someone who doesn’t understand or feel it, and on the contrary, there will be others who could be potentially changed by it,” Boynton told the publication.

“With this internet era that seems to so often conflate opinion with fact, I think it’s easy to have your parameters and benchmarks defined for you, it’s a wonderfully liberating piece of advice to define your own markers of fulfilment because it ensures you stay on your own path which I do believe leads to more personal happiness,” she added.

It’s refreshing advice from someone so successful given the “hustle ” era. That is, having the need to fill our calendars and always having something on or hustling to eventual burnout. If anything the pandemic has inspired us to slow down so we can run our own race.

Boynton’s comments comes after her involvement in the 7th annual Through Her Lens: The Tribeca CHANEL Women’s Filmmaker Program. The platform helps fund female-led film projects and provides mentoring from the likes of Boynton.

In August, it was announced Boynton would play historical figure Marie Antoinette in Searchlight’s biopic Chevalier de Saint-Georges, starring Kelvin Harrison Jr. in the titular role. She is also preparing to star in an upcoming film, Faithfull.
