Lily Collins might be an undisputed beauty icon to many of us, but it seems her husband, Charlie McDowell, wouldn’t always tend to agree. As the Emily In Paris star revealed on Instagram, McDowell isn’t exactly a fan of her latest nail design – a classic French manicure with very of-the-moment chocolate tips.

It might be a popular design choice in nail salons right now, but as Collins shared on her Instagram Story, the minimal brown shade seems to have confused McDowell. Alongside a picture of her outwardly chic French tips, Collins wrote that McDowell thought the tawny colour was the result of dirty fingernails.

“I was very into my new manicure until @charliemcdowell said it looked like I had dirt under my nails,” she captioned the snap.

Admittedly the nail design, which was coupled with a classic almond shape, does bear something of a resemblance to dirt and would perhaps work better with a deeper shade of brown.

Collins, however, decided to own the look, joking, “Guess grubby chic is my thing now” with a laughing emoji. And hey, if anyone could pull it off it’d be Emily Cooper, right?

Collins recently shared another hilarious anecdote with the public, this time from when she met Prince Charles as a child. As she detailed on an episode of The Late Late Show With James Corden, she once threw a toy at the Royal during a meeting with her father, Phil Collins.

“My dad did a lot of stuff with the Prince’s Trust and… I just went along for the ride and I guess I had a tendency to do naughty things as a 2-year-old,” she said.

“I was playing with some toys with Prince Charles and I proceeded to kind of like throw something at him, like, throw a toy telephone at his head. Which, again, all the air was sucked out of the room.”

We bet.
