One of the most anticipated aspects of the new season of Emily In Paris? No, not the wild fashion ensembles, or the enduring love triangles, or even the controversial caricatures of French culture – we’re talking about protagonist Emily Cooper’s new hair look, which saw Lily Collins embrace a fringe for the first time.

The star first shared her new bangs back in December last year, ahead of the press tour for season 2 of the popular Netflix show. With the recent premiere of season three, we got to see Emily chop them herself in a moment of frustration on screen – but now Collins has revealed the real moment behind her hair transformation.

Posting a video of the entire process to her Instagram, Collins is seen undergoing the chop with some professional help – namely her hairstylist, Gregory Russell. “Not exactly trauma bangs…,” the actor captioned the post, adding, “Unlike Emily, I didn’t cut these myself!”

The star is seen nervously awaiting the snip in Russell’s chair, saying, “Baby’s first bangs…oh my god” as the cutting began. It seems the 33-year-old was pleased with the final result however, as she continued in the caption, “Big thank you to the master @gregoryrussellhair for inducting me into my fringe era and starting Emily’s new hair journey…”

While the response to the show has been mixed, it remains a firm favourite on the global streaming platform. Collins revealed in a recent interview that the audience is equally broad, with fans of every age approaching the cast to declare their love for the show.

“The first season came out when we were experiencing COVID, so we didn’t get many human interactions after releasing the show,” she told V Magazine. “But when we came back to Paris, people were recognizing us, and the age didn’t matter—it could be 10 years old all the way up to one’s grandparents’ age.”
