The likes of Kendall Jenner, the Hadids and Kaia Gerber have paved the way, and now Leni Klum is the latest famous offspring to make her way into the modelling industry. The 16-year-old has already ticked off a major career milestone by landing her first cover, while simultaneously announcing her intention to pursue a career in modelling. “So excited for my first cover!!” Leni wrote on her Instagram, thanking her supermodel mother Heidi Klum for “being by my side” through her first major gig, adding, “It’s a very special day for me!”
Klum appeared equally as excited about her teenage daughter’s new direction. “I’m so proud of you. And it’s not because you’ve chosen your own path. I know, that no matter which path you were to go down, you would be your own woman. You always know exactly what you want and what you don’t want. And I’m so happy for you, that you now know who YOU are,” she wrote on Instagram.
As the child of an international supermodel (with ex Flavio Briatore) her daughter’s life has been largely lived in the public eye – and yet up until now, she been able to remain relatively private in her day-to-day. With a burgeoning modelling career all that is likely set to change but Heidi says she’s finally ready.
Earlier this year the America’s Got Talent judge spoke to People about her daughter’s interest in following in her footsteps. “She kind of comes [on set] and looks and learns not just what I do but also what all the different people are doing on a TV set. I think it’s very interesting to her,” she said. “When you’re that age you’re still trying to figure out who you are, what you want to be and kind of see for the first time what are all these different jobs to make a TV show happen. She does want to do what I do.”
So will Leni Klum join the likes of fellow supermodel progeny Kaia Gerber? We’re betting she’s one to watch.
