In 2008 Travis Barker was involved in a horrific plane crash that killed four people including two crew members and Barker’s close friends in South Carolina. The singer and DJ AM (aka Adam Goldstein) were the only ones to survive. Goldstein died of a drug overdose months later. Understandably, Barker has feared flying ever since and only this weekend stepped foot on a plane. For the first time in 13 years.

On Saturday, the Blink-182 drummer embarked on a private jet with Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner and her partner Corey Gamble. They flew from Camarillo, California to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. According to a source for E! NewsKardashian can be credited for helping the musician overcome the phobia.

“This has been something that Travis has been working on for some time,” a source close to the 45-year-old musician told the publication. “It’s something he’s wanted to do and to overcome. Kourtney has been incredibly loving and supportive and it is through her love, help and confidence in him that he was able to finally do this. The people that have been close to Travis since his crash are so very excited for him.”

In June, Barker said he was ready to face his fear and tweeted, “I might fly again.”

Kardashian and Barker linked up in late 2020. But it wasn’t until January that the romance was confirmed. By all accounts the relationship has gone turbo with marriage reportedly on the table – unless it has already happened.

“His life has completely changed since he has been with Kourtney and he feels ready to do anything,” another source close to the reality star told E! News at the weekend. “She’s helped him overcome this fear and he feels like he can do anything with her by his side. He has been wanting to fly for awhile and he felt like finally the time was right.”

Congratulations, Barker!
