If there’s one member of the celebrity style set who staunchly purveys the pantless trend, it’s Kendall Jenner.
The supermodel’s off-duty repertoire often consists of stealthily 90s silhouettes and a formulaic approach to street style dressing with understated skin-tight dresses and print-free separates in high rotation.
KendYet, it’s the moments when Jenner deviates from this sartorial recipe by going pant-free that prove to be her biggest contributions to the fashion zeitgeist.
While in New York, the 818 Tequila founder looked to an El Niño-approved summer silhouette for a bite at diner-style eatery Revelie Luncheonette. For the occasion, Jenner stepped out in an oversized baby blue striped button-down and little else save for a pair of black penny loafers.
This blueprint of a slouchy “boyfriend” shirt and thrown-on shoes is perhaps something you’d wear for a late-night run to your local bodega, not to a restaurant, but Jenner is quelling convention with her commitment to the no-pants aesthetic. As it turns out, this looks has legs after all.
Of course, it’s not to say the reality star is completely eschewed the bottom half of her ensemble. Just slightly peering out from underneath her shirt were a pair of negligible bike shorts, though the cropped pants were so small they’re hardly worth considering as part of her overall look.
It’s a far cry from the yellow trench coat or oversized carpenter jacket Jenner sported earlier in the week, but it’s not the first time we’ve seen her embrace a thigh-baring silhouette.
Earlier in the year, Jenner took cues from another Kendall’s wardrobe: Kendall Roy. The star tested the underwear as an outerwear trend in a pair of white boxers, a navy blazer and a New York Yankees baseball cap. Our number one girl, indeed.
Yet, it’s hard to argue against Jenner’s devotion to wearing everything other than pants as, well, pants. Since stepping out last year in just stockings and a Bottega Veneta sweater, it’s clear the supermodel has caught the style bug. And with the weather cooling in the Northern Hemisphere, here’s hoping that’s the only thing she catches.
