Hailey Bieber is forever our beauty muse, but lately she’s been turning some serious hair and makeup looks. From her deep burgundy lip moment at the LACMA gala last month to her sparkling lavender eyeshadow at the MTV VMA’s, the model has truly blessed us with some serious beauty inspiration in 2021.
And now Bieber has capped off a year of impressive cosmetic efforts with the perfect holiday beauty look, featuring that most divisive of makeup elements – green eyeliner. Of course, with the help of makeup artist extraordinaire Nikki Wolff, Bieber pulls it off (as if there was any doubt).
Wolff posted a picture of Bieber’s look to her Instagram page, where her ludicrously glowy complexion, nude lips, full brows and wet-look eye makeup were well-received by her followers. As speculation ran wild in the comments as to what products were used to create the look, Wolff broke down her technique for Vogue.
“Hailey wanted something fun and pretty, but comfortable – and she wanted to play around with colour,” Wolff revealed to the publication. “So I lined her eyes with a green pencil liner and then used an iridescent eyeshadow on her eyes — in the middle and inner corners — to create a multidimensional effect.”
Referencing the bronze hue through Bieber’s crease, Wolff explained, “To keep it flattering, add a warm eyeshadow tone—something peachy or pinky—into the eye socket.” She added, “It keeps the look flattering by tying it all together.”
With the model’s eyes the standout feature of the look, Wolff used individual eyelashes to create a fluttery lash effect, followed by several coats of mascara. On the lips was a barely-there beige hue, with Bieber’s pout subtly overlined for a fuller look. “Hailey’s choice was a muted, browny nude,” Wolff said.
