The naked dress has been trending for a time, but Florence Pugh is here to introduce us to its equally stylish sister: the naked skirt.
The British actress made an appearance at Paris Fashion Week on Sunday evening to show her support for designer Pierpaolo Piccioli, attending Valentino’s autumn/winter 2023 show at the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild.
Never one to shy away from daring fashion choices, Pugh defied the winter weather in Paris, opting to wear a completely sheer sequined skirt – her matching cream-coloured underwear visible beneath.
In a similar vein to when Zendaya wore a sparkling silver sequin skirt paired with a white cropped shirt to the Oscars last year, also a look by Valentino, Pugh paired her party-on-the-bottom look with a juxtaposing grey sweatshirt – albeit one with a bejewelled collar, which matched her sparkling silver bag.
The 27-year-old completed her look by wearing her blonde hair in a spiky top knot with face-framing strands, adding dark pink lipstick, bronzed eyeshadow and sparkling silver earrings to match her signature nose ring.
This, of course, isn’t the first time Pugh has worn a see-through Valentino piece. The hot pink tulle gown she wore to the house’s haute couture show last July prompted her to hit back at critics who shamed her for going bra-free and showing her nipples.
“It isn’t the first time and certainly won’t be the last time a woman will hear what’s wrong with her body by a crowd of strangers, what’s worrying is just how vulgar some of you men can be,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
Valentino says statement skirts and crop tops are in, and if Zendaya and Pugh agree, we are very much on board.
