TikTok has been the catalyst for many a beauty trend – both for better (skin cycling) and for worse (sunscreen contouring) – but many trends are relatively niche, which means they’re suitable for a select few. However we’re happy to report that the platform’s latest obsession is actually universally flattering and really easy to achieve at home. Enter: feather brows.

While we’ve all collectively been brow obsessed for years, there have been certain nuances to the way we style our brows over the last decade. From the sculpted arches we rocked back in 2015 to the laminated look that gained favour back in 2019, it seems TikTok has finally found that coveted middle ground between definition and a natural finish.

Creators have been sharing their tips to getting the perfect feather brows, which retain the softness and lifting effect of brow lamination but with a more refined finish. The hashtag #featherbrows has already garnered more than 32 million views on the social platform, so you know it’s good.

TikTok creator @mariel_darling says that the old way of coating your brows in product is actually unnecessary. Instead, a little goes a long way as she uses a brow spoolie to firmly push brow gel up and outward to create a feathered brow.

She says the trick is to press the brow hair down to flatten it against the skin, ensuring that it stays in place. But if you want a less dramatic take, @zeinab_tannir eschews that step altogether. She starts by lightly filling in any sparse parts of the brow with a thin pencil, before simply brushing the gel up and through the hair.

It’s a simpler, quicker take on our usual brow repertoire and we’re certainly not complaining about a less extensive routine. It also works for all brows, so you’ll find it flattering no matter what your shape or concerns are.
