Following Donatella Versace’s style advice to GRAZIA readers to a tee, The Lost Daughter and Persuasion actress Dakota Johnson has stepped out in a beautifully tailored LBD by the Italian House. The strapless, column midi–with a Medusa clasp at the front—was the real star of a recent evening in Milan when Johnson attended an event for Italian liquor brand Martini as it celebrated its 160th anniversary.
With her enviable, thick brunette hair tamed with a bombshell blowout, the 33-year-old star opted for smouldering eye shadow, heavy liner on her waterline, and a deep pinkish-nude on her lips. The blunt, arched fringe—styled heavy—was the perfect accompaniment with the décolletage-baring black number. Johnson—or should we say her stylist Kate Young—knocked it out of the park with a pair of black point stilettos to finish.
The dress was plucked from Versace’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection, its runway show held in Los Angeles in March. Showing off schedule, and uprooting to the mecca of Hollywood, was a deft move by the House. The spectacle—a Versace show is always so—saw the brand pivot back to a mid-90s era (read: iterations of the cone bra, slinky black chainmail, and the pencil skirt). Notable guests included Pamela Anderson, Anne Hathaway, Miley Cyrus and Sir. Elton John.
