Since her longtime conservatorship was ended in late 2021, we are yet to see Britney Spears make her return to the red carpet. It was rumoured that the pop star would attend the Met Gala this month but to the disappointment of fans she remained absent. In a new Instagram post, Spears revealed she did in fact have plans to walk the red carpet, but opted for pyjamas instead.

“I was gonna go to Met Gala but instead I got in the tub with my dog and put pjs on 🐶😂 !!! I hate flying 🤷🏼‍♀️🌹🌹 !!!,” she wrote to her 41 million followers. The caption was published alongside a signature video of Spears posing with her cat. It would have been Spears first ever Met Gala.

While we may not see Spears on the red carpet soon, it is believed that she will be finally returning to music. In a social media post, Spears shared a video of her dancing in a studio for “what’s to come”.

We of course don’t blame the “Toxic” singer for not attending the Met Gala. She had recently announced her pregnancy with fiancé Sam Asghari at the time and sadly, on May 14, subsequently revealed she suffered a miscarriage.

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” the couple wrote in a joint statement. “This is a devastating time for any parent.” Spears and Asghari noted they should have “waited to announce until we were further along,” explaining they were “overly excited to share the good news”.

Just one week after Spears’ father Jamie filed to officially end his daughter’s conservatorship last September, Asghari proposed to the 40-year-old. The conservatorship prevented Spears from getting married or having children.
